Who is this class for?
ALL classroom instructors, including SkillsUSA advisors are encouraged to participate in this class.
When is the class?
SkillsUSA Fundamental Course: October 6, 2022 10 am – 4 pm
Chapter Management 1: October 24, 2022 9 am – 4 pm
Chapter Management 2: January 28, 2023 10 am – 4 pm
Do I have to take the class for college credit?
You may earn 1 college credit for each indivivual course or sign up to audit the course.
Is there any pre-work?
Before arriving to the class there will be a small amount of prep work which will consist of a short reading, viewing three short videos and answering reflection questions.
What is the homework?
Students will have one week to create a lesson plan to teach a SkillsUSA Framework Essential Element for their classroom or a chapter meeting. The following objectives will be met:
1. Identify the challenge of meeting Industry needs
2. Recognize the role of the classroom advisor
3. Familiarize students of information found in the SkillsUSA Infographic- Mission, SkillsUSA
Framework, Program of Work, and member success
4. Learn about the Essential Element components from the SkillsUSA Framework and how to
integrate them into classroom and chapter activities
5. Preview the indicators of the Level 1 Chapter Excellence Program
6. Navigate the registration system
7. Learn to select, engage and utilize the strengths of student leaders
What are the following classes?
The next two courses, Comprehensive Chapter Management 1 and
Comprehensive Chapter Management 2 will be held Monday, October 24, 2022 and ??? 2023.
These classes will be centered on:
1. Election of officers
2. Running a chapter meeting
3. Using the Framework Essential Element teaching resources provided by SkillsUSA
4. Generating a Program of Work
5. Successful activity planning
6. Expectations and outcomes of Leadership conferences
7. Contest information and student preparation
8. Recognition through the Chapter Excellence Program
9. Other need to know items to have a Quality Program
Can I just take the Comprehensive Chapter Management Classes?
The Fundamental course is a prerequisite for taking the SkillsUSA Comprehensive Chapter Management 1 & 2 courses.
