Madi Lock

Hi my name is Madi Lock, I am from Carrollton Area Career Center, and I am in the Graphic Arts program.

Favorite Essential Element: My favorite Essential Element would be decision making. This element is important because decisions are made in every aspects of life also without decision making, I wouldn’t be able to write this, and I wouldn’t be a state officer! Just thinking about this we would all be paralyzed by indecisiveness, doing nothing with our lives. Every day we are faced with choices and opportunities that need decisions to help us decide what we should and need to do. Having good decision making skills helps us choose what is best for our futures.

My future looks like: My long term career goal is to be a UX/UI designer, preferably working from home in a city like Chicago or Seattle. UX/UI designers help the formation of websites and apps. UX/UX designers are the people who make a website look polished, professional, and makesure it runs smoothly. After highschool my plan is to earn a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Graphic Design then go to the next level to earn a masters degree in Human and Computer Interaction.

Something unique about me: Something unique about me is that I am the youngest of 23 grandchildren. This happens when your dad is the youngest of eight kids in his family and his immediate family was considered small to others in his overall family. My dad comes from a very large family in the Carrollton area and its neverending being told who is your cousin! My dad was his grandmother’s 62nd grandchild and to think this does not include her great-grandchildren!

Advice to Members: Some advice I would give to members is to become involved in your interests and what makes you happy! The conferences we attend throughout the year teachour members so much especially about the skills required to be successful in life. When participating in competitions, you’ll never know which judges will be impressed with your work and may offer you a job to start your future career. So many opportunities are offered to members, but you must attend conferences, compete at districts or state, and talk to other members who share similar interests as you.
