Eric Nelson

Hey everyone! My name is Eric Nelson and I graduated from Joplin High School where I also attended Franklin Technology Center (FTC) taking Engineering Graphics. It was at FTC where I was introduced to SkillsUSA and became really involved in such an amazing organization.

Favorite Essential Element: My favorite Essential Element is an element that I have grown in so much in such a quick amount of time. My favorite element would have to be Planning, Organizing, and management because in my first term as a state officer I learned very quickly how important it is to plan and manage my time and schedules. Between soccer, class, and SkillsUSA I quickly learned how important it is to be able to organize and manage every aspect of my life especially as it was my senior year. Going into my first year of college and having grown in this element I am so thankful for being able to now know how to better manage every aspect of my schedule.

My future looks like: I am a freshman at the University of Missouri studying Biomedical Engineering. Through this degree path I am hoping to one day work on prosthetics or DNA splicing.

Something unique about me:

Advice to Members: Advice that I would give to SkillsUSA members would be to soak in all of the information you can and to be a sponge. Also take every opportunity you can to engage and be involved because you will only get out of SkillsUSA what you put into it.
